P90X and Triathlon Training

Maybe the reason nikki beat me last time was because of her p90x training? Maybe it was her long legs? I can’t grow, but I can start p90x again! So off I go.

Here is my schedule for this week – I am going to be doing a VERY modified version of p90x to work with my schedule. I want to keep my cycling and my extra yoga in there!

Tuesday – Shoulders and Arms
Wednesday – Plyo and Yoga
Thursday – Legs and Back
Friday – REST
Saturday – Yoga
Sunday – Cycle & Run, Deep Stretch

The next week will be pretty different because my Tri Swim Class starts on Tuesdays. I have NO Idea what that work out will be like but I bet I wont want to do arms the next day! I may switch out Legs and Arms, but we’ll see.

Almost March!

Can you believe, February is almost over? It was in the 70′s here this weekend, everyone was out running or walking with their friends and doggies. We’ll start periodically having nicer weather which means, dun dun dun, Bathing Suit Time! Is it too early to think about it? I dont think so. How many pounds did you gain this winter? Have you stuck to your goals?

I’ve been sick all weekend so exercise hasn’t been on my mind. But since I’ve been cooped up on the couch, stuffing my face with girl scout cookies, I figured I have to get back to reality soon.

I have weight watchers, so I might as well start using it. Time to get back on the popcorn diet! As for exercise, I will keep up with my Turbo Fire, Yoga and some P90x arm workouts. I really want to get the family walking after dinner, with it starting to be light again later maybe we can do that.

What are you guys up to? Where is everyone? :)

P90X is back…

I’m retiring from Insanity (FOR NOW).  It’s been a while since I’ve done P90x… I’ve worked through Turbo Fire, and many, many Insanity workouts… and I’ve found that my low back is just tweaky.  I’m back with my first love, Tony (sorry Shaun).  He’s just the way I remembered him.

Today was day 1– Chest & Back.  (still can’t do a pull up!– that WILL change!!)

I am bummed about not completing Insanity, but there are so many fast paced moves that require a lot of core strength, and it was just too much for me.

How was Christmas & New Year’s for everyone?  I’m sure a lot of people are vowing not to eat as much… and want to add workouts to their routines.  My husband got up every day last week at 4:30 to hit the gym by 5, and get to work by 6:30/7.   The other day I asked him how he does (get out of bed that early) it and he said “I just get up.”  I asked…”but, what goes through your mind?  Don’t you have an internal struggle?  Like, one part of your brain saying “NOOOO, NOOOO, stay in that warm bed!” and the other part saying, “but, you’re so fat!  Get out of bed and work your big butt on the treadmill!”  He said, “No.  I just get up.”

So, my alarm is set for 5:30.  NO cheating this week, I promise!  Skipping out on workouts is not acceptable!

I’m still hitting the Shakeology every morning, and I’ve been working on controlling my eating impulses.  (Shakeology reduces my cravings a LOT!)  I’m actually making improvements!  My husband handed me a Snickers bar yesterday and I only ate one little bite!  YAY me!

We’re looking to build our team… let us know if you are interested in getting Beachbody products at 25% off!

If anyone is starting, or working on a Beachbody workout program, please join our blogging!  It’s so much easier to stick to a commitment when you’ve got other friends doing the same thing!

Bands versus Weights

I wasn’t a fan of bands when I first started working out, they felt flimsy, seemed hard to work with and honestly I didn’t see how it would produce results. I thought for sure it was wussing out. I spent my money getting a 5lb weight, 8 lb, 10 lb, and 12 lb. Now if you know anything about weights, those are big jumps! I would honestly need every pound from 5 to 12 and still not have enough.

Recently I’ve been forcing myself to use the bands more. I have a pink one and green one (you can buy these at beachbody.com). The pink was too hard to do some of the exercises like the straight arm raise. So I tried the green one and love it! I can increase intensity by how I loop it around my feet, where i put my foot on the band or even twist it around my hand. Its amazing. The other nice thing is its hardest where it should be hardest, when I do a bicep curl, the band is making me work at the top of the curl and is more relaxed at the bottom.

I really want to get those nice select-a-weight things but they are a few hundred dollars. I’ll stick with my awesome bands. I haven’t figured out how to do tricep kick backs yet, but I will!
